You may have noticed I’ve spent a lot of time lately talking about our police. Specifically the attacks against them. Someone needs to.
But there’s something else going on that nobody seems to want to talk about. It’s the number of police officers taking their own lives when they lose the battle to post-traumatic stress.
I want to introduce you to Trish. Trish started an organization called Believe 208. She did it after her husband took his own life when he lost that same battle. And he asked her to make an issue out of it. She’s made it her personal mission to do just that.
There are some of you who are battling those same demons right now. I need you to know that you’re not alone.
I need you to know that there are those of us who are NOT police officers who are appreciative beyond words for what you do. For how you protect our families. For how you keep our children safe. For how you take on the darkest elements of society…and carry them with you.
I need you to know that society isn’t that which the media tells you it is. It’s not just those dark elements that you battle. It’s not just the evil that’s on the other side of that thin blue line.
I need you to know that your family loves you. That your friends love you. That the vast majority of patriotic Americans thank you and appreciate you. That the burdens you carry…the pain you feel…the ache in your heart…is not all for nothing.
I’m just one person. Trish is just one person. But we WILL stand by your side, as will so many others. We WILL fight for you. We WILL be your voice when you feel so alone and you feel like you can’t go on. And we WILL help you find the support and resources you need.
You can get in touch with me right here.
God bless you and God bless America.
